This is my first year of college and I already enjoy everything about teaching. I am constantly watching tiktoks and videos of teachers showing off their classrooms and talking about their experiences with their students. I knew I wanted to be a teacher since I was a kid and the reason being is because I grew up with a mom who taught pre-k. Seeing her interact with her students and hearing about the stories of things she’s experienced in the classroom made me feel like teaching was my destiny. I am so lucky to have gotten to experience everything it takes to be a teacher firsthand and to have a mom who can guide me along the way of my journey. I let my mom know all the time that the reason why I am so passionate about going into teaching is because of her. Everyone tells me how much of an impact that she has had on their lives gives me inspiration to be just like her. I am so happy to have my mom as my greatest impact for the reason I’m pursuing education.
I am also lucky enough to have had such great elementary teachers who I look up to in addition to my mom. My elementary school was the best place that I could’ve gone to and every teacher that I have had from kindergarten through 5th grade has impacted my journey in becoming a teacher in many different ways. I am so incredibly grateful to experience such great teachers in my life and even if I am just half of what they all are, I will be a great teacher
Hi Aliyah, I can clearly sense your joy and passion for teaching through this blog, and I think it's super cool that your mom has inspired you to become a teacher. I personally had a different experience from you, as I didn’t know I would be pursuing a career in teaching until I was in High School. It took a lot of self-discovery and questions for me to finally decide on teaching, but once I did, I knew it was my ultimate calling. I can totally relate to your comment about watching teacher tiktok’s. There are so many creative teachers on the app, and I’m constantly learning and getting ideas to implement into my classroom one day. I’m happy that you had so many positive experiences with your teachers throughout your life, and that they’ve also played a role in your journey of becoming a teacher. Thank you for sharing, and I'm sure you will inspire your students one day, the way your mom inspired you.
ReplyDeleteHey Aliyah, I love that you are going into the same field as your mom, I am sure it is so nice to know you can rely on her to help you! I also had incredible teachers at my elementary school that inspired me to become a teacher like them. They taught me the importance of kindness and patience. I want to be a kindergarten teacher and inspire young kids like you said your mom does. I also watch TikTok and youtube videos of teachers all the time. It's so cool to get so much inspiration and advice from them. It makes me feel just a little bit more prepared and excited to have my own classroom one day. I swear my saved videos are full of teaching tips and classroom decor ideas. I even have a full playlist of saved videos on youtube from teachers touring their classrooms or generally giving advice.
